How to create a rule for allowing access to Gmail with Outlook?

You can create a security policy to allow existing application gmail. Gmail outlook also uses imap and POP port numbers 993,995,465,587 which are covered under existing gmail application.

Please share the results if that worked.

I have the same issue, but cannot get it to work how you described. Gmail uses SMTP. so, if you have SMTP blocked on the network, Gmail is also blocked (at least the sending part)

I would like a way to allow Gmail in outlook for users, without allowing SMTP for anything else? Is there a way to do this?

Currently that will not be possible as the gmail-base is dependent on the following Apps

imap, pop3, smtp, ssl, web-browsing

As you have described in your case it is using SMTP. So smtp will need to be allowed in order for it to work properly.

The only other thing i can think of is that you can do is create your own signature if that is possible.

Hope this helps.
Thanks

Unfortunately, there is no app-id for this scenario.

But you can still do a traditional set of firewall rules.

Allow outbound imap pop and smtp to the gmail servers listed in the outlook setup with the specified ports.

Get started with IMAP and POP3 - Gmail Help

Allow outbound smtp to all of the gmail mx record servers listed here.

MX record values - Google Apps Administrator Help

The scenario described by Steven Puluka is what ended up working. Thanks
