Hi there,
I know that each model has a max number of sessions that can be handled overall. But is there a way to reduce this number of max sessions in the configuration?
Many thanks for your help.
Regards,
Sylvia

Hi Sylvia,
There is no way for change it, but you can have some session control if you are running PAN-OS 4.0. There is a DoS policy feature under the policy tab.

As far as I know (and see) you can limit the number of session handled by VSYS.
So, you'd need to configure multiple VSYS (considering the VSYS as hop for PBF policy you could be able to manage a situation with multiple VSYS for a single customer/business unit).

Yes. This is a good workaround 🙂
If you are going to limit the total session that the firewall can handle, it is impossible. But you can create two Vsys (you need additional Vsys license unless you are using PA4000 or PA5000 series) and use resource allocation to limit how many sessions each Vsys can have in total.
So creative!
