Can you upgrade from 7.0.12 directly to 7.1? Is there anything you loose?

Anything past 7.0.1 you can upgrade directly to 7.1.* without any issues. To the best of my knowledge you won't be loosing anything, although if you aren't decrypting traffic I don't believe that 7.1.* is all that large of an update.

interesting thought I had not considered going all the way to 7.1.7 but I will take a look at the release notes

l would go to the 7.1.8 (the latest maintenance release) as it is already out and got some "bugs" and security fix. But yes please do check release notes first (always a good starting point) :0

I need to find out if it requires any intermediate steps and ran into the issue when I went to the 7.0 OS, would that be necessary in order to move to 7.1.8?

No intermediate steps, simply download 7.1.0, then 7.1.8 and install 7.1.8. No need to install 7.1.0 before installing 7.1.8, you just have to have 7.1.0 downloaded so that your device has all the required bits and bytes to actually install to 7.1.8.

interesting thanks for the info I need to go download the release notes for 7.1.8 now. Got to make sure it won't affect my VPN/globalprotect access etc, 🙂
