PA-500 Very Slow Boot Speed

L0 Member

I rebooted to upgrade my OS

But it took 2-3 hours to boot up.

It took nearly 2 hours for auto-commit to complete.

After a factory reset, it recovered normally, but I wonder why it's so slow.

Someone please give me an answer.

Also, is the only solution a factory reset?

Over it's lifetime the device will gather lots of logs and configuration items After a (major) upgrade, the log databases need to be upgraded (so all the logs need to be rewritten to a new database format) and certain config items need to be converted. The PA-500 is a fairly old platform (10+ years old), so may need a little more time to complete these updates/conversions compared to new platforms
