Pan-OS Upgrade path question

L0 Member

I know this is a frequent question, but I've not seen one particular aspect of it. I need to upgrade from 7.0.1 to 7.1.x (the latest).  Am I correct that I would do the following:

  • Download and install 7.0.19 <- this is my main question- can I go directly from 7.0.1 to 7.0.19 or is there an interim version needed?
  • reboot
  • Download and install 7.1.0
  • Download and install 7.1.x
  • reboot

This is my first Palo Alto and the upgrade process seems a little unclear, so any clarification is appreciated.

Hello,

You can skip 7.0.19.

  • Download only 7.1.0, just needs to be there when you go to install 7.1.x
  • Download and install 7.1.x
  • reboot

Should be OK. Just make sure to read the release notes so you are aware of hte fixes and any changes to default behavior.

Regards,
