Panorama Management of Remote HA PAN Pairs over a VPN

L0 Member

I have Panorama at our central site to manage PANs. I have several HA Pairs (PA-220 devices) that are remote and connect to Panoram via a VPN. Currently on the remote PAN  HA pairs,  Panorama can only fully manage the primary PAN. The secondary PAN of the HA pair is not reachable via Panorama. I can sync the config from the primary PAN to the secondary PAN, but only the Panorama template changes are synced, not the device group changes.

I am planning to have a switch connect the management interfaces of the remote HA PANs and then bring these connections back via a seperate interface on the primary PAN so that Panorama can talk to both management interfaces.

How do you manage HA pairs that are remote to Panorama over a VPN?

Does anyone NAT the communication between PANs and Panorama?

I found that I can NAT the PAN management interface and communications with Panorama work just fine. Panorama lists the device under managed devices with the actual management interface IP address and not the NAT address which is great.

Your setup should work fine.

Have you changed Service Route?

Device > Setup > Services > Service Route Configuration

It should be management interface (as it is by default) because network interfaces are not passing traffic on Passive Palo.

Also what do you see in traffic log. Is traffic from Palo mgnt interfaces permitted to Panorama?

Hello,

Could you please share more details about your solution ?

How did you implement the NAT and how did you configure service route configuration for Panorama services ?

Thanks
