policy block website because of application deafult

L2 Linker

Dears

There is policy on my firewall ,we set the service as "Application-Default" not "Any" .

the problem is that when user access to specefic website ,the connection be dropped because the service is "Application-Default" although the destination port is 443

when i change "Application-Default"  to "Any" ,website be opened without problem ?!

I want to still "Application-Default" on rule but allow this website for users.

Hi @AhmedEmam

I assume you have implemented TLS decryption? In this case when the firewall decrypts application "ssl", it sees "web-browsing" inside "ssl". "ssl" has default port 443 while "web-browsing" has the default port 80, but this time it is on 443, so the firewall does not allow this because now the application is not on the default port.

In this case you probably want to create an additional policy that allows the apps in general on port 443 or add an application filter to restrics the applications at least a little without allowing anythinh on port 443.

thank you

you say right

Can we change the application of this website from "web-browsing"category to be seen as "SSL" because the site is HTTPS not HTTP
