Restoring Palo Alto from AWS snapshot - interfaces etc

L2 Linker

Apologies if this is a basic question but first time I do this maybe in a real production environment and I have no prior experience. Does anyone have an example of restoring Palo Alto in AWS (from a snapshot)? Where could things go wrong in the restore process for example interface issues. If anyone has experience please let me know.

No experience in aws env but constantly doing this in our lab.  To replicate an issue or general testing we snapshot the live palo and dump onto our lab palo.  Once loaded you can view and modify settings and also check everything prior to actually committing. I have never had an issue.

Thanks for this. Any chance you could show me outside the forum perhaps through Teams or Skype - I know it's asking a lot and no problem if you cannot !

Do we support taking snapshots in AWS for Palo Alto Network firewalls or Panorama?
Environment:
  • Virtual Palo Alto firewall
  • Virtual Panorama
  • Deployment: AWS

Palo Alto VM firewall or Panorama does not support AWS snapshots.
