Search syntax for object management

L1 Bithead

Hello community

I have tried to look this up in the help, but could not come up with anything useful. Therefore I thought I'd might give it a try here. I have to delete an bunch ob objects at the same time. So instead of typing one IP address and then deleting the object and do this over and over again, I though I'd better come up with one search string to filter out all addresses I need to delete.

I did try to use the filter I am used to use from the policy management ( name contains 'xyz' ) or  (source/member eq 'XYZ' ) and combine them with or/and. But it seems like this syntax is not working in the object management UI.

Is there any documentation about what filters can be used in with menu? Or do you have any recommendation what string I can use in Object management to find let's say five or ten addresses with one serach?

Many thanks for your help and best regards

Tibor

the object management search capabilities are limited to simple 'match' criteria

so you can search for 10. to return all addresses in the 10.0.0.0/8 ip range or you can search for dmz for all objects that include 'dmz' in their name or tag

Thanks a lot for your reply. Guess I will have to do this step by step with each individual address then.

you could do it the 'hacker' way and save a named config file, export that config, dig in with an xml/text editor and re-upload and load that config.

depending on the amount of objects you need to tackle this may save you some time
