Is configuring app overide for backup traffic like TSM best practices? TSM is always our biggest talker on all our firewalls and we know this traffic. It seems to me we wouldn't want the fw to inspect it all the way through layer 7. Please provide some feed back and if you agree, an config example would be greate. We have a few TSM servers and the rest of the server environment backs up to TSM. Multiple sources to a few destinations.
Thank you,
Ted

>Traffic matching an application override policy forces the firewall to handle the session as a regular stateful inspection firewall at Layer-4

> Create an application override policy and mention the following applications in it :
1. service-now
2. tivoli-storage-manager
This will exclude TSM from the layer 7 checks.

Sounds easy enough, once the app override policy is in place I shouldn't need a new security rule too?
Do you or have you delt with the same issue with exluding TSM or backup traffic? I'm trying to understand what I'm loosing from a security perspective as opposed to cpu cycles and hardware.

I currently have rules to allow this traffic, I justed didn't know if I needed a new one or needed to alter my rules with the new app overide set up. Thanks again from your help.
