Why does the PAN Route through the management interface?

L3 Networker

If I traceroute with the source ip of my private internal interface to the host that my user-id app is located it works.

If I just do a traceroute host to the host that my user-id is located on it fails.

I put a static host route in the VR pointing out my private internal interface and it still fails if I don't source the interface in the trace.

Hi

By default the traceroute and ping (w/o the source definition) commands reference the management interface. You do need to specify the interface source IP in that command to refer to a particular interface otherwise the management interface is implied.

This is expected behavior

This does not mean that the management interface participates in routing.

Hope this helps
