PA 850 10G SFP Ports to Cisco 3650 1G SFP Port Cross Connect Will Work

Hi All

 

I have PA850 with 10G SFP ports and cisco 3650 switch with 1G SFP ports. I want to cross connect will it work ? If yes can i buy 2 1G SFP module for switch and 2 10G SFP module for firewall and use ?

Hello @VishnuK - you can set all SFP+ ports on the PA-850 to SFP mode, and then use a supported 1Gbps SFP in those ports.  Multi-rate SFP+ modules are not supported. 

 

The command 

set system setting ports-9-12-speed sfp

followed by 

request restart system

will allow you to use 1Gbps SFPs in these ports.  Please note that this is an all-or-nothing configuration on the PA-850 - once changed, SFP+ modules will not work until you change the speed back to SFP+.

 

10Gbps SFP+ modules and 1Gbps SFP modules are not compatible.
