Cisco 10G SFP+ DAC from ION 5200 to Nexus 9K

L0 Member

Hoping someone can help me understand whether using a Cisco 10G SFP+ DACs between an ION 5200 appliance and Nexus 9K switching can work.  Cisco SKU is SFP-H10GB-CU2M.  ION is recognizing the DAC at the ports, but not coming online.  Prisma SD-WAN

Only official Palo SFPs are qualified for use by our Product Team, we will allow you to use 3rd party ones but don’t offer support on them. I have seen issues with Cisco DAC cables in the past so would opt for a non-dac alternative in this case.

FYI we tried a cisco 10G SFP+ DAC from ION 9200 to Nexus 9K and it didn't  work.  The cable seemed to be recognized by the ION but it never worked.

I had previously opened a ticket before buying the cable asking if it should work.  but was also given the disclaimer.  The Palo Alto tech did add a link to the ticket about supported cables/SFPs but the information was for the firewall line so we rolled the dice.  We did get the 10gig links to work by using Cisco 10gig short range SFPs with OM4 patch cords.
