Deploy custom signature using XML API

L0 Member

I'm trying to deploy custom signatures using the XML API which gives me the following error:

<response status="error" code="12"><msg><line>Object cannot be overridden</line></msg></response>

This was after I was trying to use action=set which gave the error below which, as specified in the documentation suggested to use action=override, this resulted in the error above.

<response status="error" code="13"><msg><line>set failed, may need to override template object first</line></msg></response>

This problem exist on 5.x as well as 6.x. There is no Panorama involved with the firewall. Have anyone run into this issue before, and have a solution?

Maybe useful if you can post the api call you are using.  I haven't done this before but I am sure the action override is only used when you are overriding template values pushed from panorama (which maybe why you mentioned you are not using panorama).  Sorry if I am teaching you to suck eggs but I have found when doing API work I use the command "debug cli on" and then try and create the application in the cli.  The cli will output the api call required to repeat that cli process.
