XML API and Mac OS X Widgets

L4 Transporter

I got to thinking about this idea this morning.

Is is possible in the XML API to pull the Flash-based reports under the Monitor > App Scope section to build Mac OS X Widgets out of them? It would be great to be able to call up the Top 5 Bandwidth Consuming Sources quickly.

You can use the XML API to pull the dynamic report for top sources like so:

http(s)://hostname/esp/restapi.esp?key=keyvalue&type=report&reporttype=dynamic&reportname=top-src-summary

I'm not a Dashcode expert, but XMLHttpRequest() will get you the xml response and a charting library could render a graph.
