We are excited to share the integration between Palo Alto Networks VM-Series Virtual Firewalls on Tencent Cloud. With this integration, customers who use Tencent Cloud to run their applications on the cloud can now leverage VM-series to protect their applications against advanced threats.

Introduction to Tencent Cloud: Empowering Global Business with Scalable Solutions

Tencent Cloud’s infrastructure is built on a globally distributed network of data centers, providing high availability, low latency, and robust performance for businesses worldwide. Tencent Cloud is available in 21 regions and over 58 availability zones across the globe, ensuring seamless connectivity and reliable service. With strong networking, compute power, storage, and security capabilities, Tencent Cloud’s infrastructure is designed to support a wide range of applications.

Leverage VM-Series Excellence for Simplified Network Security

The Palo Alto Networks VM-Series Virtual Next-Generation Firewall consistently protects public and private clouds, virtualized data centers, and branch environments by delivering inline network security and threat prevention. Public cloud platforms and software-defined network solutions lack the threat prevention capabilities needed to keep your environment safe. VM-Series virtual firewalls augment your security posture with the industry-leading threat prevention capabilities of the Palo Alto Networks Next-Generation Firewall in a virtual machine (VM) form factor, making it automatable, scalable, and easily deployed.

With the VM-Series support on private and public cloud, you can:

  • Identify and control applications, grant access based on users, and prevent known and unknown threats.
  • Segment mission-critical applications and data using Zero Trust principles to improve security posture and achieve compliance.
  • Centrally manage policies across both physical and virtual firewalls to ensure consistent security posture.
  • Streamline workflow automation to ensure that security keeps pace

Deploying VM-Series on Tencent Cloud: Protect Tencent Cloud Applications from Zero-Day Threats

With VM-Series support on Tencent Cloud, customers can protect applications running on Tencent Cloud against incoming threats and data exfiltration and also prevent lateral movement of threats within the Tencent Cloud environment. Additionally, you can manage firewalls running on all the platforms from a single place, thus allowing you to enforce consistent security policies regardless of whether your applications are running on Tencent Cloud or on-premises.

Integrating the VM-Series with Tencent Cloud provides robust protection for applications running on Tencent Cloud focused on the following use cases:

  • Inbound protection: Identify and stop inbound attacks originating from the public-facing internet, protecting applications against external threats.
  • Outbound protection: Mitigate data exfiltration attempts by blocking connections to known bad destinations like command-and-control (C2) servers and inspect the traffic for data patterns associated with sensitive data, such as credit card and Social Security numbers.
  • Lateral movement prevention:  Safeguard Tencent public cloud deployment against lateral cyber threats. VM-Series can effectively block threats from moving laterally between applications and workloads, helping to ensure enhanced security in Tencent Cloud environments.
  • Centralized Management and Enforce Consistent Security Posture: Enforce consistent security policies using Panorama, a centralized network security management plane for all firewalls, whether your applications are running on Tencent Cloud or the private cloud.
