Arp Table Timeout

L0 Member

I wonder if anyone might be able to tell me how long the ARP table timeout on a PA 2020 might be.

Hello,

The default timeout is 1800s:

admin@PA-2020> show arp all

maximum of entries supported :      1000

default timeout:                    1800 seconds

total ARP entries in table :        9

total ARP entries shown :           9

status: s - static, c - complete, e - expiring, i - incomplete

I dont know if the PA-2020 got some other value but according to the CLI Reference Guide for PANOS 4.1 the default is 1800 seconds:

Sample Output

The following command displays ARP information for the ethernet1/1 interface.

username@hostname> show arp ethernet1/1

maximum of entries supported :      8192

default timeout:                    1800 seconds

total ARP entries in table :        0

total ARP entries shown :           0

status: s - static, c - complete, i - incomplete

username@hostname>

Hello,

The default timeout is 1800s:

admin@PA-2020> show arp all

maximum of entries supported :      1000

default timeout:                    1800 seconds

total ARP entries in table :        9

total ARP entries shown :           9

status: s - static, c - complete, e - expiring, i - incomplete

By the way, how come the default is 1800 seconds (30min) when for example Cisco (switch/router)equipment uses 300 seconds (5min) for mac-address-table timeout and 14400 seconds (4 hours) for arp table timeout (or TTL actually)?
