Best approach to swap out straight through with cross over cables in active/passive scenario

L2 Linker

Does anyone know of a best approach to swap out straight through with cross over cables in a PAN-2020 active/passive scenario?

Just suspend the HA on the passive device, swap your cables, and enable HA again on the passive device. Should be under the Device > HA section.

You mean in order to limit possible downtime?

I think best option is to do this during a service window.

To do the cable swap during a scheduled maintenance window goes without saying. What I am concerned about is the possiblity of a  split brain scenario.

4000 and upwards have dedicated HA interfaces which in some cases must use crossover cables to function properly.

For 2000 series you use the dataplane for HA and here you dont have any limit of using crossover or not.

If we go for IEEE you must use auto/auto for gbit interfaces which also gives you auto-mdix so it doesnt matter if you use a crossover cable or not.
