dataplane is not up or invalid target-dp | Upgrade from 9.0.15 to version 10.X

L1 Bithead

Ran into errors with our Palo Alto PA-3250-1 after starting the upgrade process to version 10,

dataplane is not up or invalid target-dp

On phone with TAC (been on hold for hours, waiting for engineer). Has anyone ran into similar issues? Searched online, very few articles.

We attempted reboots and restarting dataplane, issue not resolved.

This is related to the following bug:

PAN-160499
Fixed an issue on Panorama where, after an upgrade to a PAN-OS 10.0 release version, configuration pushes failed with the error

Need to config WMI account and password for querying Microsoft directory servers.

This bug is list for 10.0.5. We were going to 10.0.0, but still ran into it. TAC engineer also said, this is not limited to Panorama. Fix was going to a version above 10.0.5.

@SBozley,

Hopefully TAC has been assigned at this point, but have you checked the status of the auto commit and verified that this isn't failing.

Got in touch with TAC, confirmed that auto commit was failing. We did notice that and performed a commit but that didn't help. We rolled back and will pick up troubleshooting tomorrow. Thank you for the suggestion
