Detection of duplicate ip?

L4 Transporter

Hello,

Got a call from a client said their network is slow and intermittent Internet access.   Found out someone in the office installed a network based webcam that used the same ip address as the firewall interface on that client net.

I checked the firewall log and did not find any alert about duplicate ip detected.  It turns out PanOS does not detects duplicate IP.   I can't remember other layer 3 devices that does not have duplicate ip detection capability.

If you think this is a problem, please talk to your local SEs and ask to fill out a feature request.

if you mean same ip different Mac, it will not be possible in most of the configurations.

At least when paloalto is the dhcp server, it will be a good feature.

In the forums here you can create this as an "Idea" instead of a discussion.  this allows other users to vote on the feature and maintains a public list.
