Dynamic VPN to Dynamic VPN

L0 Member

I'm wondering if anyone has addressed this yet.

I am setting up a VPN between a PA-200 and PA-VM100. Both of the sides have a dynamic IP and we're using an FQDN DNS forwarder as our Peer IDs. Both sides won't initiate the connection since they're both set to dynamic. I've looked at workarounds like NATing to an FQDN etc but I couldn't find anything that would work.

Any ideas on a workaround? Thanks!

In order to get a Dynamic VPN Host to establish an IPSEC VPN Tunnel, one side of the tunnel needs to be Static. And then that way the Dynamic host originates the tunnel.

If this is not working, then I would have to ask for you to look in your system logs for VPN entries and see if you can see what is showing up.

Also you may want to select aggressive mode not main mode for that VPN.
