Hi,

When looking for url reports from custom reports , some of the url addresses come only with *.domain.com

is there a way to see full address of these url's.Especially google ?

Here is a sample where I could get the details from the report. Yes we do see some *.google.com but we also see talk.google.com and mail.google.com and drive.google.com if it is a well known links if not we get to see the *.google.com.

yes that was what I thought but not wanted Smiley Sad

thanks for answer.looks like decryption is mandatory

So here is the case,

why don't we see any *.google.com on our device in url filtering logs ? And we do not have ssl decryption on ?

we browse google with https and make searches...

but on another device it shows *.google.com...

any idea ?

versions both 5.0.x

And both devices are configured equally?

Because when there is no ssl termination activated the PA device can only see the CN (Common Name) part of the cert being used which in googles case is *.google.com (since when there is no ssl termination enabled the PA cannot see inside the ssl tunnel which it otherwise would to see which hostname is actually being requested by the client).

Since *.google.com (from the CN part of the cert) is everything PA knows (except src/dst ip/port) it will log this and this will then show up in your activity log.

But I can agree - if this is the case it would be nice if the PA device somehow (by color or something?) could notify the user that this info is taken from the cert and not the actual http header.
