Globalprotect: gateways or satellites?

L4 Transporter

I'd like to setup a GP environment with a single portal, but two different locations (gateways?) where clients can connect. The documentation talks of gateways and satellites. I'm uncertain of the differences and when you would choose one or the other.

Can someone clarify? Thanks.

GlobalProtect Satellite simplifies the deployment of traditional hub and spoke VPNs, enabling you to quickly deploy enterprise networks with several branch offices with a minimum amount of configuration required on the remote satellite devices. This solution uses certificates for device authentication and IPSec to secure data.

for  individual user remote access use the GP client to portal and gateway. No satellite.

depending on your setup you may require additional license for multiple gateways.
