Hi All,
How to enable safe search in youtube? example : Allow youtube but deny adult content (porn videos)
I tried by allowing "youtube-safety-mode" app and blocking "youtube-base", but giving app dependency warning. ( youtube-base needs to be allowed

Hi Gururaj,
Safety Mode, an opt-in setting that helps screen out potentially objectionable content that you may prefer not to see or don't want others in your family to stumble across while enjoying YouTube.
Depends on Applications: web-browsing, youtube-base
That is why, If you allow only "youtube-safety-mode" and blocking "youtube-base", it will give you an application dependency warning. So, it is recommended to add "YouTube-safety-mode" along with youtube-base.
As per my understanding, we cannot block content inside YouTube. We will identify the application as per the application signature, not the content ( data i.e porn video) inside the application.
Thanks

Hi Hulk,
If we allow both "youtube-safety-mode" and "youtube-base" then we cant block potentially objectionable content as "youtube-base" app allows to browse youtube even without enabling "saafety mode" option enabled in youtube.

Hi,
If you are an ex proxy user, you can't do the same with palo.
Palo is not a proxy that's mean you can make url rewriting for enabling automatically safe-search on youtube, google or other yet.
the only thing you can do is allowing safe youtube and block if it's not.
Hope Help.

If you know the channel name that you are trying to block. The following doc explains on how to do that
https://live.paloaltonetworks.com/docs/DOC-2289
Here are some other good docs on how to allow/block youtube and its content
https://live.paloaltonetworks.com/docs/DOC-4721

Is there a way to force users to use YouTube Safety Mode in Windows and Strict Safe Search Filtering in the iOS YouTube App in order to so a YouTube search? Document 1451 does not seem to achieve this?

Hello NPTECH
With 6.0 the new feature is enabled such that in the url filtering profile we have the check box to check if the safe search is enabled or not. If checked it would allow the sites to safe sites if not it gets blocked. More details in the 6.0 Admin guide.
Google, Yahoo and Bing search engines are supported.
Thanks

The safe search feature in 6.0 is not working for us. I have a case open with Aruba TAC? Per Aruba, the YouTube safe search is no longer supported due to changes by Google last year. They seem to say that a proxy server is required.

Hi NPTECH,
We used to be able to detect YouTube Safety Mode via an App-ID, but due to recent changes in Google's implementation, this no longer works. As such, you must rely on the PAN-OS 6.0 Safe Search Enforcement feature to enforce YouTube Safety Mode in your environment.

Hi NPTECH,
As mentioned above, YouTube Safety Mode is included as part of the SafeSearch Enforcement feature in PAN-OS 6.0, provided that you've updated your content to version 422 or later. If you've done this and are not seeing support for YouTube Safety Mode, please open a case with Support.

Just a thought, but when I surf to http://youtube.com (or any other google service for that matter), I am redirected to https (SSL). Decryption will be needed in order to apply safe search restrictions
