import config from PA-2020 to PA-3020

Hi,

I need to change a old PA_2020 with a new PA-3020 and would like to use the configuration of old device in the new firewall to avoid to do the work again..

So, Is it possible to import config file from a PA-2020 to a new PA-3020?

If yes, is there any requirement (version or something)?, and it is enough doing Export Named Configuration Snapshot in PA-2020 and Import it with Import Named Configuration Snapshot on PA-3020?

Thanks in advance,

Regards,

Juan Luis.

Hi Juan,

It is very much possible, and easy to do.

Make New Firewall meets following requirement.

1. New firewall has more or same number of ports than older one.

2. New firewall has same or similar PANOS.

3. New firewall has same Licenses.

If it meets above requirement, follow bellow steps.

4. Export configuration from old Firewall

5. Import to New firewall

6. Commit.

OK

The only requirement that could be a problem is the licenses. I will try anyway.

Thanks and best regards,

Juan Luis.

You can always get temp licenses in the meantime, then transfer them later.

Hi Juan,

License can be transferred only to RMA devices.

So only option is to contact your SE, if he can help you to transfer licences with some credits of older Hardware.
