Integration of Palo Alto with Azure AD for authentication of users using SSO

L1 Bithead

Hi,

I have below requirement for providing access to users based upon using user-ids/AD groups in security policies.

1. These users are using Macbook and they login by using their email Ids for login into their machines.
2. Authentication of their login via email Ids is taking place via Azure AD not via On-premises AD.

Traffic for all these users is going via our Internet PAN. We already are using User-Id agents for mapping of users' IP mappings with their user-ids. User-Id agents are talking to the On-premises AD and we can create policies by using these user-ids/AD groups in our firewall without any issues.

Main issue is for users who are getting authenticated via Azure AD not with On-premises AD.

Can anyone please suggest how we can achieve this in Palo Alto so that we can create policy in Palo Alto by using AD groups for users who are getting authenticated via Azure AD by using their email IDs rather than using their user-Ids.

Thanks & Regards

Hi @GSOC-SCJohnson

Do these users use the email address or is it the upn - which may be is the same as the email addreds?

Hi Remo,

Thanks for your quick response.

These users are using email addresses.

Check theboutput of the following cli command:

show user user-attributes user <user name>

Does it show email address used in the azure login as login attribute of a user?

Posting just to see how this turns out. I can see this in our future.

Hi @ccscott

At least I can tell that this works perfectly fine with login to azure AD in combination with user ID data from a local active directory. The issue here in this topic we will hopefully find and solve.

And fyi: there is a subscribe option where you can subscribe to comments in a topic 😉

Hey Remo,

Can you please share a link for this or any doc which I can refer for this accomplishment.

Thanks & Regards,

Bilal
