Is there anyway to see chat log in Skype or any IM?

Hi all,

Can PaloAltoNetworks firewall see chat log in Skype and MSN messenger in coming version of PAN OS?This is due to a lot of requirement from our customer that want to see what their staff is chatting in the organization. So far there is one product able to do so.. The product is SANGFOR.Or anyway to block keywords in the IM?

Hi Sam,

In the curernt PAN-OS (3.1.x and previous) you are able to use Data Filtering in order to trigger on key words in IM.  Indeed even the templates in there for Credit Card Numbers and SSN.

This will trigger a packet capture of the packet/packets(s) in question - much like a threat.

We do not currently have the ability to record full conversations within IM - you would need to conact your local sales team to put this forward as a feature request.

The one challenge with this is proprietary encryption on applications such as Skype.  For this particular "IM", there will be no way to record the conversations - or indeed other data transferred inside.
