Kernel panic on a PA-500 device ...

L3 Networker

Hello,

Anybody ran into such issue with a PA device ?

"Kernel panic - not syncing: VFS: Unable to mount root fs on unknown-block(8,2)"

Then device goes into loop boots... No way to make it boot, even using the maintenance partition.

Is there a way to use the front USB port to rescue ?

Any idea ?

Regards,

Laurent

Sounds like HDD issues. I would open a case with Support or your reseller to help with further diagnosis and recourse.

Thanks,

Having the same issue with a 5260 on our network.

Except ours just stops at "Power Down System"

Pull the power cable try and restart get into the alternate images.

Same result

Get into maintenance menu and while in the menu the FW starts shutting down.

Hard Drive...?

@dfrandy

As per below posts looks like hard drive.

Follow the steps and if still does not work need RMA for Hard Disk

Hello,

As previously mentioned, open a support case. They will grab the info they need and get you a new part. Also backup your config now! even if using Panorama, its a good thing to have.

Regards,

Done.
