As per PA we are hitting some bug where we see so many reportd crashes and they want us to upgrade to 8.1.5

Did the restart occur at the time when the panorama appliance generates the scheduled reports or when you (or another admin) run another custom report?
In any case this sounds like you should generate the tech support file and open a support case.

This is happening to Panorama in Azure as well. This is weird problem.
I have opened a TAC case.
I am doing code upgrade today and then monitor for a while for reportd crash
