So I know that one can go into the GUI and easily update the MOTD, problem is I'm not usually in the GUI for anything on my devices. Does anybody know how one can update the MOTD through the API or CLI, I could have sworn that I found it in the CLI at one point in time but now I can't find it.

Nevermind:
If someone finds this post one day the command is actually 'set deviceconfig system motd-and-banner message <value>' .

I see you already have your answer, but also for future reference, the two most important CLI commands (IMHO):
set cli config-output-format set
and
find command keyword <keyword>
altho you do need to be mindful on both whether you're in configure mode or not.
