Can Gen1 and Gen 2 NPC cards =be nixed in 1 7050 chassis w/o any issues with software ro addtl hardware upgrades?

Yes, as long as you're running the minimum software version required to support the line cards you're using. For example, the 20GQ NPC was supported starting in PAN-OS 7.0, and the 20GXM and 20GQXM are supported starting in PAN-OS 7.1. See the PA-7000 Series Hardware guides for more details.
