Object xpath in PanOS config logs

L4 Transporter

In the PanOS GUI under Config logs there is column "Full Path", which shows the full xpath of the edited objects. However the "Full Path" is not part of the actual syslog Config message and I also can't find a customer "Full Path" field in the Custom Log format fields.

Do you know how can we add it to the syslog messages?

@batd2,

The default syslog message should include the path to what was modified, but if you have customized this you would need to add the $path variable.

@BPry The config log message has the path in format "device-group dg_name address", but not the actual xpath. You get the same from the "$path" variable.

The full xpath is showing in the GUI and I was wondering if anyone know of way of also having it in the config syslog.

Using the full xpath would make a big difference when automating log search queries.

@batd2,

Ya, I read that question way too quickly. The only syslog fields that will display the actual xpath is $before_change_detail and $after_change_detail.

@BPry $before_change_detail and $after_change_detail do not show the actual xpath
