Hello,

The upgrade procedure is as follows:

1.  Suspend ACTIVE-SECONDARY.

2.  Verify that ACTIVE-PRIMARY is now passing all traffic.

3.  Download and install PAN-OS ( download 6.0.0  -> download and install 6.0.1 ) on ACTIVE-SECONDARY.

4.  Reboot ACTIVE-SECONDARY to complete installation.

5.  Verify ACTIVE-SECONDARY is passing traffic in a functional state.

6.  Suspend ACTIVE-PRIMARY.

7.  Verify that ACTIVE-SECONDARY is now passing all traffic.

8.  Download and install PAN-OS( download 6.0.0  -> download and install 6.0.1 ) on ACTIVE-PRIMARY.

9.  Restart ACTIVE-PRIMARY to complete installation.

10.  Verify ACTIVE-PRIMARY is passing traffic in a functional state.

11.  Verify that both firewalls are passing traffic correctly as an Active/Active pair.

Regards,

Jahnavi.

On the Devices > Software tab for both nodes:

Download 6.0.0

Download 6.0.1

On your Secondary node:

Select install 6.0.1

Reboot when complete

Once this is completely up and running

On the primary node:

Select install 6.0.1

Reboot when complete

Once this is complete verify that the HA widget on Dashboard shows all elements in sync.  Investigate any issue.

The reason I recommend downloading the packages on BOTH nodes first, before doing any installations, is to insure that you are staged for the complete upgrade process.

You don't want to have the secondary node upgraded and rebooted and then find out there is an issue preventing download on the primary node forcing a rollback or an extended period when the two nodes are out of sync for PanOS version.

Why are suspending the active primary in this case?  If both nodes has the correct version downloaded.

Thank you

Thanks Steven,

great answer.

thanks Jahnavi,

Installation gone smoothly this way.

Hello treese,

you already downloaded both version on both appliances, but the high availability mode comparison is based on installed versions not downloaded versions.
