Panorama upload image to firewall gateways failed

L0 Member

Hello everyone,

We use Panorama to centrally managing around 50+ firewalls, usually choose image upload function in Panorama to offload internet traffic. I found the Panorama cannot upload to "Passive" unit since PanOS 9.1 and showing "Download error: HTTP response code said error", except passive units, all "Active" unit, content updates & wildfire are upload & deploy successfully without this error, could anyone help?

do you have service routes set ? those won't be available in passive devices as the dataplane interfaces are down

it is using management interface.

Did you work out why it was doing this?  I am seeing a similar issue.  It sometimes works sometimes gives the same error.  If I retry it a few times, sooner or later it just works.  the fact that no settings are changing is annoying, and the error message is useless.

Has anyone found a fix for this? We also have this problem where 50% of the attempts fail and need to repeat many many times until all are completed. This is taking many hours to complete so really could do with resolving.

i've seen this with one of my customers last week where a couple firewalls had this issue while jumping from 8.1 to 9.0

after downloading the image locally and installing, the issue went away for all devices after the first upgrade for consequent uploads from panorama

not the best fix but it did work 😉
