PBF for Torrent Traffic

L1 Bithead

I am trying to establish a policy to send all traffic based on bittorrent through a specific ISP.

However, when I add any application under the destination application, I get the error: application 'bittorrent' is not an allowed keywordapplication 'bittorrent' is not a valid reference

I noticed that not all application are available to use in the PBF unlike the regular Security Rules.

Is there any type of limitation on application in PBF

You can only use Apps that can be discovered at Session Setup.

Example: web-browsing instead of facebook-base

Extracted from Admin guide:

[snip]

The initial session on a given destination IP address and port that is

associated with an application will not match an application-specific rule and will be

forwarded according to subsequent PBF rules (that do not specify an application) or the

virtual router’s forwarding table. All subsequent sessions on that destination IP address and

port for the same application will match an application-specific rule. To ensure forwarding

through PBF rules, application-specific rules are not recommended.
