Problem with AD authentication - username change

L1 Bithead

Hi,

We had to change the username of one of our colleagues in the Active Directory. Now our appliance (PA-500 running 4.1.4) can see the changes but only in a strange way.

When I try to create a rule with this user and I try to list the users with [domain]\ I can see only the old username (ana.cvetkovska), but when I try to list the users with [domain].com.mk\ I can see the new, changed username as it should be.

Unfortunately, for access privileges the appliance uses the short version (all the logs show users in [domain]\[user] format) so we cannot give the user the privileges it needs.

I've tries clearing ip-user mappings, even restarting the firewall, but the problem is still present.

Any help would be appreciated.

If you are running 4.1.4 have you also upgraded the PAN Agent to USER ID 4.1.x

If so, now the users will be read directly from the Active Directory (LDAP Configuration) from the PAN FW

When defining the LDAP server, do you have the "Domain" field filled out? Please try to keep this field blank and pull groups again. Or, if you'd like configure the NetBIOS domain here.
