Regarding HA ports and PoE ports

Thank you for your continued support.

Please allow me to confirm the following.

①  The PA-400 and PA-500 series do not have HA ports. However, we are assuming that the regular ports will be used as HA ports.

In that case, are two HA ports required? Currently, we are using 8 ports (1 port for HA), so we understand that a device with 9 or more ports will be necessary. In that case, we anticipate the following to be the minimum configuration. Is there any discrepancy in our understanding?

400 series: PA-415 or PA-445

500 series: PA-550

② Regarding the PA-415 and PA-445, four ports are listed as RJ45/PoE ports. Even when using them for IPS purposes, we do not anticipate any impact from using the PoE ports. Is there any discrepancy in our understanding?

Two HA ports are required. HA1 is for management communication(control, config sync, etc.). HA2 is for dataplane communication. I use ports 7 & 8 on my PA-440.

1. You only really need 1 dataplane port for HA2 as the management port can be used as the primary HA1, although it is recommended to use an additional dataplane port as HA1-b

2. the PoE ports simply have the capacity to supply power to an external device (mini switch, camera,...) while also providing ethernet connectivity. you are not required to enable PoE so can use those interfaces as regular ports
