Slow Network Traffic Using Global Protect

L2 Linker

Hi,

We are experiencing high latency when using Global Protect. It peaks to 1000ms. We tried to use Cisco VPN to isolate the problem and latency peaks at 90ms. We removed security profiles that may cause latency but it did not work. We also noticed that the problem occurs every morning and traffic is normal again from 1pm onwards. We checked the traffic logs but nothing is unusual. Is someone encountered this before?

Thanks,

MBS

Sounds like you have a peak utilization over the capacity of the system.

Do you have smtp traffic collection somewhere to see what bandwidth utilization is during the affected period on the PA?

If this only affects the PA connections, I would guess that your PA may need to upgrade to the next higher model to accomadate the bandwidth load.  But you need to check the utilization and specs to confirm.

Check if your users connect with SSL or IPSec.

In case of SSL protocol there is TCP in TCP that has more overhead and can cause havoc in case you have packet loss.
