SNMP request failed

Not applicable

Hi, I try to request to PA-5020 with S.O. 1.4.7 some snmp traps for extract certain information about fo temp, cpu used, max sessions, etcetera.

But when i try to extract the information since my snmp tool called snmpcheck the result is "Request Failed"

I try too extract the snmp traps with the graph tool called MRTG but the result is the same, "Request Failed"

Actually have configured the SNMP Setup with the server, IP address and community, too have a snmp profile with the snmp server configuration.

All snmp configuration is based on snmp v.2.

In tne monitor tab of palo alto, have the request of my snmp request tools and the action logged of Palo Alto is Allow, but in the snmp tool always mark "Request Failed"

Which other configuration I needed to allow walk snmp between Palo Alto 5020 and snmp tools?

Regards.

Hugo.

Hi everyone.-

The problem is that the snmpwalk command contained no instruction to ask for SNMP version 2 and by default the application asks snmpwalk SNMP version 1.

Fixed placing snmp v2 and instruction within the query and that was it.

Thanks for your responses.

Which PANOS version are you using? Are you using the SNMP MIBs?

Enterprise SNMP MIB 5.0

As long as you are using either V2C or V3 there should be no issues with doing an SNMP. Try these articles:

L5 Sessionator

Check if the Interface being polled has SNMP service allowed.

SNMP has to be allowed explicitly with OS-5.0.x on the Management interface.

It can be allowed visiting : Device>Setup>Management>Manement Interface settings.

If using any ethernet interfaces : Allow SNMP service in the Interface Managment Profile associated with the interface.

Ensure  community string matches : Default string for SNMPV2  is 'public.'

Hi all.-

Thank you for yours responses, my device have all configuration mark in the doc "How to Configure SNMPv2" and don't see the communication with the snmp walk tool.

Wwhen I run a command to extract certain information from OID, information throws no problem, but when I try to run a command that extracts all the information arm of an OID, that's when the message of "request failed"

Regards.
