There is no Linux vpn client at this time.  Interest has been expressed in this, and the best source of information regarding any potential feature enhancements would be your Palo Alto Networks sales team.

Is there a known work around for linux? has anybody been able to connect with linux?

Not any "secure" workaround as far as I know. IPsec does not allow certificates or support xauth/modecfg right now. The SSLVPN-client is for Mac/Windows. It is my understanding change is around the corner and linux users will be able to connect to the box in the near future.
