We have around 200 Ipads deployed to our field agents. Our configuration on our global protect portal is to have always-on enabled, so that when a device loses connection, that when connection is restored the vpn would automatically reconnect.
my initial tests were with test mobile phones (iphone 12 and a Pixel 8), I rigorously tested these devices and turned wifi on/off, going to airplane mode, turning off cell coverage, rebooting, and full shut down and reconnecting. In every test the phones would reconnect without failure.
However with the ipad application, the device would sometimes reconnect without engaging in the app and clicking on connect.
- note: All IPads have cellular service, staff go to different locations and most have intermittent service during travel
- IOS version 17.4.1
- GlobalProtect client 6.1.4-716
Ipads do not reconnect under these situations:
- Shutdown/restart of the device
- when a device is offline, then goes to standby mode, then unlocks and restores connection
I was wondering if anyone else has experienced the same issue, or if anyone has any recommendation to mediate the connection issues.
Thank you
