PAN OS 8.1.25-h3 for PA-850

L1 Bithead

Hello Everyone,

In one of the branch, we are having PA-850 firewall with firmware 8.1.13 version running on it. Because of the organization limitation, there is no internet on the firewall so we couldn't actively upgarde the firmware version. Now we are planned to upgrade the firmware version to 8.1.25-h3 by downloading it from support portal and install it manaually. But I couldn't find the 8.1.25-h3 version on the support portal.

Hello @Ezhilarasan - is there any reason you are using an old, unsupported release like 8.1 on these platforms?

Hello Lain Robertson,

Thanks for the response. We didn't get the window time to perform the upgrade and other than this there is no specific reason.

Now we have got the window and stuck here.

Hi,

As robertson said you can't download the 8 version because it is no longer supported by Palo Alto.  Also the 9 version is going out of support (they extended it until june right now) .

End-of-Life Summary - Palo Alto Networks

You will need to upgrade to version 10.1 or 10.2 my recommendation would be to go to 10.1.13  (you could do 10.1.12 if  you are not using global protect gateways on the firewalls).  10.1.12 is actually prefereded but you will have lot's of issues when you use vpn clients on the firewall global protect)

You will have to upgrade in steps.
