Upgrade release

Hello everyone,

For a customer, I need to upgrade the release from 10.2.7-h8 to 12.2.2.

I would like to understand which steps are necessary to perform this upgrade. In short, do I need to install every required intermediate release until I reach the target version?

For example, would the procedure be something like:

• Download the base image for 11.0.0 without installing it.

• Download and install the preferred/recommended version of 11.1.0.

• Continue with the required intermediate releases until reaching 12.2.2.

Also, if there are multiple versions/hotfixes for each release, do I need to download and install each individual version, or is it sufficient to install only the recommended version for each major/minor release?

Could someone please clarify the correct upgrade path from 10.2.7-h8 → 12.2.2 and which versions/images are actually required?

I actually just did this exact move last month but I stopped at 12.1.7-h3, I think you can do larger jumps if you're not using an HA pair, but these are the steps for an HA pair:

Download 11.0.0
Download/Install 11.0.4-h6

Download 11.1.0
Download/Install 11.1.13-h9

Download 11.2.0
Download/Install 11.2.10-h3

Download 12.1.2
Download/Install 12.1.7-h3

I think 12.2.2 is considered a base, so you can just download that and install afterwards.

Talking to Support previously for standalone they said you can go from 10.2 -> 11.2 -> 12.1 if you're using a standalone firewall.

Good news (sorry i'm late to the party @PatWruk ) everyone, you can actually skip versions. No need to skiphop across all versions any more

A simplified version was introduced in 10.2 and then up to 3 release skips since 11.0.

So for the case of @P.Esposito  the preferred upgrade path would be:

download and install latest dynamic updates content packages

download 11.2.0

download and install 11.2.10-h13

reboot

download and install 12.2.2

reboot

Done!
