Palo VM - The system is shutting down due to masterd initiated

L0 Member

I have a VM series Palo running 10.1.11-h4 and the system log is showing that the device has a system shutdown with a description of the following: The system is shutting down due to masterd initiated.

I have not had much luck researching this error or why the Palo VM keeps shutting down due to this error. It was sporadic in nature but has become more frequent all the sudden.

Is there anywhere to look or anything I can check?

Thanks

Hello @G.Buckler

This message is typically indicative of a process crashing or continuously restarting. There are various potential causes for this issue, so I suggest opening a ticket with the TAC for assistance.

Additionally, to rule out a specific issue, please check the system logs for the following error messages: "eproxy: daemon/slot restart, rebooting system" or "Rebooting (reason: eproxy: restarts exhausted)" and confirm if they are present.

Thanks for the insight. We actually built another VM Palo on a separate OS version that appears to be holding steady. We didn't have support unfortunately for this so had to do some digging. If it comes up again I will look at the logs you suggested.
