The Prisma Access SASE PlatformThe Prisma Access SASE Platform

Palo Alto Networks LIVEcommunity dives into what's new with the Prisma Access SASE platform, where it's at today, what people are saying, and how it can help you improve your security posture in the cloud. Got questions? Get answers on LIVEcommunity.

It’s been over a month since the launch of our Prisma Access SASE to help deliver secure access to cloud applications for our customers. Well, it shouldn’t be a surprise that the Prisma Access SASE offering has quickly become the industry’s most simple, secure, and high-performance cloud-based SD-WAN solution. Where’s it at today? What’s new? Have you missed anything?

Let’s dive in to make sure you’re up to date with the Prisma Access SASE.

Where’s Prisma Access Today?

As you may know, Prisma Access (formerly GlobalProtect Cloud Service) has been consolidating security capabilities in the cloud such as CASB, SWG, DNS Security and more for multiple years. And today, we’re in the SASE headlines, accepting everyone’s opinion—accepting but not necessarily agreeing. Despite what you may have heard, Prisma Access by Palo Alto Networks consolidates network and network security capabilities into a single platform and aligns with Gartner’s definition as a Secure Access Service Edge (SASE).

Today, customers are adopting Prisma Access at a rapid rate, since most are driven by digital transformation and organizational adoption of cloud and mobility. Now that we introduced native support for SD-WAN in the Prisma Access SASE platform, we’ve basically revolutionized the way SD-WAN is delivered and consumed. But don’t take my word for it, see for yourself just how we are “Protecting People from More and More Places” with Prisma Access because, or as Brian Tokuyoshi says it, “securing headquarters, data centers, branch offices and mobile users isn’t easy.”

What’s New in Prisma Access?

Starting with the most recent news, the new software-defined wide area network (SD-WAN) capability was introduced with the new PAN-OS 9.1, which is now available as a service with Prisma Access. With that, we’re giving more attention to the number of challenges that customers face, such as security, performance, and simplicity. Our solutions are clear as day:

  1. Adopt SD-WAN safely with the same level of security.
  2. Minimize latency and ensure reliability for an optimal end-user experience.
  3. Easily adopt SD-WAN as a service and enable it with your existing firewalls.

Also, let’s not forget the new re-imagined web-based UI with wizard-based workflows to help help simplify adoption. However, you can still use the Panorama management UI to consistently manage their on-prem physical and virtual next-generation firewalls and the Prisma Access SASE.

Now for the exciting stuff!

Since time is money, we want to do our part to help reduce downtime. There’s now improved Prisma Access SLAs for SaaS applications that guarantees uptime and performance for users accessing SaaS applications through the Prisma Access SASE, which probably adds an extra nine to the existing 99.99% Prisma Access uptime SLA.

New advanced DLP service is now integrated into Prisma Access and other products by Palo Alto Networks for higher level of data protection and governance. The new DLP service can be managed from either the Prisma Access or Prisma SaaS user interfaces and uses a common back-end DLP engine, which means that DLP policy created in one product will be immediately available in the other.
