How to detect Cortex XDR agent stoppage if agent audit logs are being forwarded to SIEM ?

L0 Member

I am currently ingesting XDR agent audit logs to MS sentinel. Is there a way to identify if someone/adversary has managed to stop/disable the XDR agent ? I also want to avoid False positives by filtering out scenarios where the Host itself is powered off.

Hello @akshayhari94 ,

Thanks for reaching out on LiveCommunity!

In order to monitor the XDR service status, you can filter out agent audit logs with Type field with value "Agent Service" and then Sub type field with values like "stop", "start" and "anti tampering". Here start and stop value represent that someone has started or stopped the XDR service. Anti tampering value will provide you description about if someone has enabled/disabled the tampering protection of XDR.
