Update hostname VDI Golden Image

Hi ,

 

we need change hostname on Golden Image VDI , it's necessary reinstall agent  Cortex XDR or exist some command to update this?

Thank you writing to LiveCommunity!

 

In case if you have the agent already installed and functional on golden image and the situation is to only update the golden image name, in that circumstance, a reinstall isn’t required.

 

Instead you must run the cytool vdi update to update the golden image name and ID in the persistent database to allow the agent and its virtual instances to register the change.

 

 

If you would update the golden image with additional patches, elements and applications, in that case you must follow the VDI provisioning procedures to scan the image again and then close the snapshot before deployment to update the golden image instance.

cytool vdi update is enough?

If the objective of opening the golden image is only to update the hostname, then, YES. It should be enough. 

However, if there are changes made to the golden images of any form(installation/uninstallation, patching, file addition, etc.), then you would need to run the cytool commands for image scans, as mentioned in the docs reference above. Circling back to the point is that, in any of the above cited use cases, we do not need a reinstall as an action

in this case is only the hostname was change.
