I have a PA-440 on the shelf and want to make it a LAB unit. The support for the serial number expired on 12/15/2023. The device runs perfectly. I believe the original VAR is out of business. I tried my current VAR and was told the device was not registered. Is there anything I can do? I registered the device under my company's name, but the authorization code has expired. Help.

Production to Lab is not really a thing; you can go the other way with some headache, but production to lab bundle isn't really something that PAN does. It's possible if you were able to register it under your account that you would be able to put it back under production support, but I don't think you're going to have a lot of luck converting that to a lab unit.

Thanks for the response. I am having an issue registering the device. I have no auth codes. I thought I registered via serial number, but that is not enough to get a license quote. Do you have any idea how to get auth codes?

Hello @Shonne ,
I suggest you to talk with the local PANW representative the following scenario:
- first renew your production subscription for 1 year (12/15/2023 - 12/14/2024)
- second, before the above renew expire ask for device conversion from Production to LAB and get a new renew quote as a lab device

Hello @shobeav ,
To renew your production devices you need only serial number of that devices.
When the renew will be finish, then you will get your valid auth codes.

It's about how @CosminM wrote. When the device is registered already, you only need the serial number to get a quote from the VAR. If there is a way to license it as you want then I am sure the VAR knows how to get there.
