Comparitn two device configs to find missing and inconsistent entries.

L4 Transporter

we have a head office and disaster site PA3020.

It's taken 2 months to get the DR firewall online, originaly it was a clone of the HO one so all settings were the same ( excepet ones that had to be unique)

But now after that 2 months we have made a number of changes to the HO which were not reflected in DR.

Is there an easy way to take the two configs and HIGHLIGH the differeces?

I have tried the Migration tool but can't work out how the above could be done.

Thanks

Rob

Pull the configs from the CLI and use a tool that highlights differences. It doesn't need to be a PA tool, just something can compares text side-by-side and shows the differences.

@RobinClayton,

The configuration as a whole is simply an XML file; so if you export the running-config from both firewalls you should be able to use a program such as DIffDog to compare the configuration files. I'm not a huge fan of using anything that doesn't specifically understand XML as it can highlight diffs that don't actually exist.

@RobinClayton,

Also another option, although I personally don't like this one, is to simply import the XML files into the firewalls. Simply export the running-config from one of the firewalls and rename the file to something like HO-RunningConfig so that you don't overwrite anything. Then you can use the built in Config Audit to compare the differences between the two configs without any additional tools or anything like that.
