Content-ID Container Pages

L2 Linker

Has anyone done anything with the Content-ID container pages to control the URL logging? Are you using a Custom 'URL Content Types' list?  What are the supported URL Content Types?  The documentation is sorely lacking .

Thanks, Jeff K

Hello

Do you mean the "Log container page only" check box under the URL Filtering profile?
Could you please explain where you are setting the "Content-ID container pages"

The principal of the 'Log container pages only' is to log only the main page and not the spawned URLs that show up on each modern dynamic web page. However you can get other URLs still ( in your URL logs) other than main URL you initially requested as there are multiple references to spawned URLs and depending on how the page was written the PAN FW may be forced to recognize those other URLs as separate entries and may still show up in the URL logs.

The default should have all content types availible, you can remove from there to control what is logged.

* I'm assuming our talking about device->setup->content-ID

The current documentation about "Container Pages" and the URL profile "Log container page only" option is summed up in this Knowledge Base document:

https://live.paloaltonetworks.com/servlet/JiveServlet/downloadBody/2386-102-1-5808/Container%20Page%...

The one and only important piece of information this KB article adds is the connection between the "Log container page only" option and  \Device\Setup\Content-ID\Container Pages

sjamaluddin, how do you know that "The principal of the 'Log container page only' is to log only the main page..."?  The documentation doesn't say this.

Dominic, I'm not so sure the default "Container Pages" has all the content types available ... how do you know this?

I'm seeking concise documentation on this topic ... where is it?

Thanks!  Jeff
